We use Reform grinders, with coolant flooding, in our shop to quickly remove a minimal amount of material from the shear blade. If the shear blades have large nicks they can be left so that the shear blade life is extended and you receive as many good edges to cut with as possible. We can also bring those nicks out at your request, as long as they do not go below shear blade manufacturer minimum specs. We strive to maintain the flatness of the shear blade, front to back and left to right. Minimal variation in shear blade thickness is one of the keys to successful operational performance. We can, at your request complete material removal spec sheets for your shear blades, letting you know exactly how much material was removed. We can also note comments about what we noticed about the shear blades before grinding.
